Former Rangers players have reacted online to this mornings announcement of Russell Martin as the new Head Coach at Ibrox across various platforms.
The reaction from the support has been mixed but those who have lived the dream and pulled on the famous blue jersey seem to have a more positive outlook on the appointment.
Former two-time Rangers striker Kris Boyd spoke on Sky Sports this morning about how he feels the ex-Southampton boss will be "A fantastic appointment” for the club.
He said: “I think it's a fantastic appointment for Rangers. I know there's a lot of fans out there who are unhappy, and they've got their concerns.
“I can understand that as well, but for me, I think when you speak to people within football, Russell Martin is highly thought of.
“This move was one he wanted to happen. He was obviously linked with other clubs, Leicester being one as well, but I believe there were bigger clubs than Leicester in England. I'd asked him to be part of the staff and try and develop players and make them better, but he decided that Rangers were for him.
“I think when you look at the process that Rangers have went through, they've obviously spoken to a lot of candidates and Russell Martin has come out on top. For me, I think it's a fantastic appointment. He's already been here as a player.
“He understands the pressures and the demands that are put on you as a player, but as a manager, it's going to be totally different. He will have to deal with everything, but I firmly believe that this is the right appointment for the Rangers Football Club, and I think he'll do really well.”
Rangers title winning winger Gregg Wylde agreed with Boyd's assessment on his social media account.

However, it has not all been positive with former Rangers manager and record goalscorer Ally McCoist calling the appointment “underwhelming” on TalkSport prior to this morning’s announcement.
As supporters we should be backing the man that our lauded new board have appointed following a rigorous recruitment progress. They haven’t made this choice on a whim, and they certainly got the appointment of Daniel Farke at Leeds United correct. Time will not be on Martin’s side but time may also show him to be the correct choice.
Martin will speak to the media shortly at 11am.
