Rangers are clamping down on media releases after their 1pm embargoed press release regarding Friday’s takeover was leaked to the public and ended up shared on social media by excited supporters.
Sources inside the club have revealed that the upper echelons of the club were furious with the release and are set to enforce stricter limits and guidelines on what journalists and what media outlets receive these releases and access to the club.
It is yet unclear if this executive order has come from the new ownership group headed up by new chairman Cavenagh and 49ers enterprises, led by vice-chairman Paraag Marathe, the new vice chairman or by the remaining members of the previous leadership group within the club.
The club have managed to keep the details of their current managerial search quiet, but Inside Ibrox revealed earlier today that an announcement of the new head coach is reportedly scheduled for Wednesday 4 July at some point with the name of the expected incoming gaffer included in the piece.
Rangers have maintained good relationships with the press and are one of few British clubs to allow fan media access to matchday facilities, press conferences and press releases and it is yet unclear if this will impact relationships at all or if the leak has come from a member of the traditional media.
The takeover announcement was leaked several hours before the official statement yesterday afternoon, quickly being spread around WhatsApp groups before surfacing online on social media.
This will not impact Inside Ibrox as we continue to try and bring you the best coverage of the Famous Glasgow Rangers that we can.
