Rangers Women face off against Old Firm rivals Celtic this Sunday in the Sky Sports Cup semi-finals at Broadwood Stadium.

Leanne Crichton’s side have two-wins from two against Celtic so far this season, a 2-0 win away followed by a 3-2 win in the return at Ibrox, in what was a thrilling match.

That win at Ibrox was won by Rangers winger Mia McAuley, who unleashed a thunderous strike from outside the area to win the match for her side, she spoke ahead of the match this weekend and was adamant that Rangers would be looking to make it four successive finals, and victories in a row in this competition.

McAuley, 19, has been part of the previous two final victories over both Partick Thistle and Hibernian.

“We want to retain our trophy,” she said.

“We've gone out and won it two times in the past two years, so it's amazing for the team as well - they're our trophies and we want to retain them.”

She pointed to the ladies togetherness as the main aspect of their recent upturn in form following a poor loss away to Hearts in November – a run which has seen them go six unbeaten, featuring five wins over the likes of Celtic and champions Hibernian.

“The cheeriness in the group is amazing this season,” she explained.

“Leanne has brought a real calmness to us.

“We're playing really good football right now, I just hope we can keep it up.”

She also pointed to those two previous victories over the Hoops as confidence boosters ahead of a crunch semi-final match.

“This season, the team against Celtic have been amazing. We've come out with two wins so far, and to go into the semi-final and play them, hopefully we can do it again,” she said.

“These are the games players want to play in. The biggest games, that's the games you want to play in, you want to play against Celtic, you want to play against all the top teams.

“The girls need to be ready and I'm sure we will be.”

Celtic will have a different face in the dugout for this fixture - Elena Sadiku departed Scotland in December and she was replaced by title-winning Hibs manager Grant Scott, who will aim for a victory in his first Old Firm match in charge.

Celtic forward Saorise Noonan spoke on the impact their new boss has had.

“There have been small changes, but nothing drastic. It's the same dressing room, it's the same bunch of girls, it's the same goals.

“We're in all three competitions still, so we just want to keep going and put our best foot forward.

“Yes, we've had a good start, but we need to keep that going.”

The game kicks off at 1.40pm, this Sunday, February 1.
