James Penrice insists Rangers will head to Celtic Park with only one objective when the two Old Firm sides meet again in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
The Rangers defender was one of the standout performers in last weekend's emphatic 3-0 Glasgow Derby victory at Ibrox, but he has warned his teammates that they cannot afford to dwell on their cup triumph.
Rangers will make the short trip across Glasgow to the East End looking to repeat the result and build further momentum in the league, with Penrice making it clear that Derek McInnes' side will not be approaching the fixture with any fear of the Celtic support.
There will be no Gers’ fans inside Parkhead, only 60,000 Hoops supporters, but Penrice, omitted from today’s Scotland squad, remains unphased.
Penrice ready for Celtic atmosphere
When asked what Rangers can expect from the atmosphere at Celtic Park, Penrice said the players are focused on the game rather than the occasion.
"From our players' point of view, we don't go there and worry about fans,” he revealed.
"We think the game will be different. I think you look at the game, they'll probably change stuff, we'll probably change stuff.
"It'll be a different game, but we'll go there with the mindset that we're going to win.
"That's what you need to do as a Rangers player, you need to go to these places and win."
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable few weeks since returning to Rangers, where he was once a youth player, and Sunday's victory was one of the highlights of his career.
Penrice admitted the atmosphere at Ibrox exceeded his expectations as Rangers produced a commanding display.
"It probably surpassed it. The noise just coming in when we were running in from the warm-up was wild,” he explained.
"You've got to perform and it makes it all the better that we managed to walk away with a win. It was a very memorable Sunday."
Back-to-back Old Firm wins the target
Penrice also believes Rangers can use the confidence generated by the Old Firm victory when they return to Celtic Park.
There will be no Rangers supporters inside the stadium on Sunday, but the defender insists that cannot affect the team's approach.
"Definitely, I think the boys know that everyone will be sitting in their house watching. But at the same time, we go on the pitch and we've got a job to do and that's what happens when you play Rangers,” he stated.
"You need to park Sunday now and focus on the league now. It needs to be followed up by this Sunday.
"I feel like over the last couple of weeks, we've been winning games in that sort of way where it's everyone together. You've seen after the game, everyone was in it together.
"I'm very wary that it's one game and Sunday's now back in the league and we need to go and do a job.
"I definitely think we've got more gears to go."
But the message from Penrice ahead of Sunday's trip is simple, Rangers have already shown they can dominate Celtic at Ibrox and now they have the opportunity to prove they can do it at Celtic Park, and Penrice has no intention of going there simply to protect last weekend's result.
"Ultimately we need to go there and win the game."
