Rangers head to Tynecastle to face Scottish Premiership league leaders Hearts this afternoon in a vital six-pointer in the race for the title.

Danny Röhl remains unbeaten in the league as Rangers head coach and will look to take all three points in Gorgie to put his team right back in the mix for the crown.

Hearts head into the match nine ahead of Rangers – but the Gers can cut that to six with a win and also have a game-in-hand over Derek McInnes’s Jambos.

Hearts inflicted Rangers only league defeat of the season earlier in the year, defeating then-boss Russell Martin’s side 2-0 at Ibrox.

Team news

Rangers remain without the long-term injured John Souttar, Derek Cornelius, Bailey Rice and Oliver Antman.

Nedim Bajrami is also out after going off injured away to Kilmarnock but Bojan Miovski is fit and starts for Rangers despite fitness worries – Kieran Dowell has also returned to the fold and makes the bench.

Rabbi Matondo and Joe Rothwell are both also out as is Nasser Djiga who is away with Burkina Faso at the African Cup of Nations. Mohamed Diomande remains in Scotland and starts after being left out of the Ivory Coast squad.

Hearts are without the injured trio of Calem Nieuwenhof, Eduardo Ageu and Findlay Pollock.

Former Rangers player Craig Halkett also misses out with an injury.

Defender Harry Milne is suspended after picking up his sixth yellow of the season. Pierre Kabore is also at AFCON, also with Burkina Faso.

Beni Baningime returns but is only fit enough for the subs bench.

Match officials

Nick Walsh will be the referee in charge of tonight’s match under the lights. The 35-year-old official has given out 100 yellow cards and one red cards across his 20 domestic and European matches this season so far – awarding seven penalty kicks.

He will be assisted by Daniel McFarlane and Calum Spence on the sidelines – the fourth official has not been confirmed.

VAR will be Grant Irvine, and his assistant will be Calum Scott.
