Alex Lowry may have left Rangers over two years ago, but the former Ibrox academy graduate is showing signs of rediscovering his best form back in Scottish football.
The now 23-year-old was one of the standout performers for Motherwell in their thrilling 3-3 draw with St Mirren, producing an impressive attacking display for the Steelmen.
No player created more chances than Lowry during the match, while he also led the game for shots and completed dribbles.
The Motherwell loanee created five chances, attempted five shots and completed three dribbles as he caused problems for the St Mirren defence throughout the contest.

It was a performance that underlined why Lowry was once regarded as one of the brightest talents to emerge from the Rangers academy.
There was plenty of excitement around the midfielder when he broke into Giovanni van Bronckhorst's first-team squad in January 2022. Lowry made his Rangers debut against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup after coming on for the injured Ianis Hagi.
He announced himself in spectacular fashion, scoring after being introduced from the bench.
Van Bronckhorst was quick to recognise Lowry's potential and publicly backed him to become an important player for Rangers.
“Alex is one of the big talents that we have coming through from the Academy and we are in talks for him to sign a new contract. I think he will be an important player for the future of this club,” the former Rangers boss said at the time.
Van Bronckhorst also highlighted the qualities that made Lowry such an exciting prospect.
“Alex is a very creative player, a player who can create chances and who can score as well,” he said.
Those attributes were on full display against St Mirren, with Lowry repeatedly looking to make things happen in the final third.
Career setbacks
His development, however, was disrupted by injuries and difficult personal circumstances. Lowry spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Hearts but was sent back to Rangers in January after suffering an injury. That period also came amid personal losses within his family, making it an especially difficult spell for the young player.
He eventually left Rangers permanently in 2024, with Philippe Clement sanctioning a move to Wycombe Wanderers. The transfer came after Lowry had struggled during Rangers' pre-season, including a difficult performance against Birmingham City.
Now back in Scotland with Motherwell, Lowry has an opportunity to rebuild his career in familiar surroundings and his latest performance suggests he may be starting to do exactly that.
There was another Rangers connection in the 3-3 draw, with current Gers loanee Paul Nsio finding the net for St Mirren.
At 23, Lowry still has plenty of time to fulfil the potential that once had Van Bronckhorst predicting a major future for him at Ibrox.
Motherwell could prove an ideal environment for that next chapter. The Steelmen are giving Lowry the opportunity to play regularly, take responsibility in attacking areas and rebuild his confidence after several difficult years.
Whether he can turn flashes of his old Rangers form into sustained performances remains to be seen, but there are encouraging signs that Lowry is beginning to find his feet again.
Once described by Van Bronckhorst as one of Rangers' “big talents”, his return to Scottish football could be the start of something significant for a player once tipped for the very top.
