Derek McInnes has outlined the mentality and intensity he wants to install at Rangers, insisting opponents must no longer feel comfortable at Ibrox as he begins shaping his squad.

The new Rangers boss stressed the need for a stronger “fear factor” at home, higher standards in domestic competition, and a team capable of turning tight games into wins.

“My support will probably want what you've just said there. It's easy to say it, but we've got to try and implement that,” McInnes said.

“I want us to try and impose ourselves on opposition. I don't want teams to come here and feel comfortable. We've got to make teams really struggle when they're playing against us. We've got to make them suffer.”

He added that while quality is essential, intensity and consistency will define success.

“We've got good players currently and we're going to bring good players but it takes a lot more than that and there's been an intensity that's required to win games domestically.”

McInnes also highlighted the need to cut out dropped points in tight matches as Rangers look to close the gap in the title race.

“Too many draws, maybe, last season. It's trying to find those answers in the game. With that, you need to have confident players. I want a confident Rangers team.”

He concluded by stressing the importance of consistent application across every match.

“You've got to try and turn up all the time, turn up your work and do it well.”
