Rangers were held to a 0–0 draw away to Hibernian, a result that leaves them trailing Celtic on goal difference and six points behind league leaders Hearts as the title race tightens.

With it also being deadline day, Gers head coach Danny Rohl faced questions not only about the performance but about whether reinforcements are still coming.

The Rangers head coach accepted the nature of the contest but not without frustration.

“You always want to win games, but it wasn't exactly the expected tough game today,” he said.

“We faced an opponent with physical intensity; I think it was the game that we expected.”

“In the end, I take the point today. It's about the next game and it's on Wednesday.”

Creativity in the final third was a theme. “Especially the first half, we started very controlled, but then we missed the moment where we bring more bodies around and into the box,” Rohl admitted.

“After 25 minutes, I felt we felt comfortable on the ball, but without outcome. We tried to change this in the second half more.”

On the title picture, he refused to frame the draw as decisive.

“There are 14 games to go. When you asked me ten weeks ago, we are on the 1st of February and this position, I would take it,” he said.

“I'm totally convinced that this race goes until the end, not until matchday 28. It goes until 38 and we have to be there.”

Transfers inevitably surfaced, particularly around Rangers struggles for open-play goals.

Rohl’s answer was telling. “At first, we will see what happens tomorrow. If something happens, then I'm happy. If not, I carry on with my group,” he said. 4

Pressed on the likelihood of another addition, he was blunt: “I don't know yet.”

He also made clear one result would not shift his stance. “What I will not do today after this draw is to make everything very dark.

“I saw a group that is growing and growing together, and we are still in the race.”

Asked directly whether he has enough to win the title if no one arrives, Rohl deferred to the process.

“It's my job to carry on with my group. The club will make the final decision tomorrow, what is on, what is not on,” he said.

“So far, we've made three signs. I think it was a good start. Now we will see what happens on the deadline.”

This is in sharp contrast to his comments over the previous weeks, in which he has insinuated a “crazy” signing before the window closed – as well as reports suggesting Rangers would sign up to three players before the closure of business today.

With the team struggling for creativity and a natural finisher, these comments have worried the Ibrox support, who will sit and watch with intrigue as the final day of the window progresses.
