Connor Barron is travelling to Middlesbrough to complete a loan move from Rangers after agreeing to join the Championship club on deadline day.
The midfielder had earlier rejected the opportunity to move to Hannover 96, with Barron understood to have been determined to remain at Ibrox and fight for his place in Derek McInnes' squad.
However, after another offer was accepted, this time from Middlesbrough, Barron has agreed to make the move and is now travelling to England to complete the transfer according to the Rangers Review.
The 23-year-old is among the Rangers players allowed to leave in search of regular first-team football.
Barron has featured in just two European matches this season and has found opportunities limited amid strong competition for places in McInnes' midfield.
Barron changes his mind after Middlesbrough approach
Barron's situation has developed rapidly on deadline day. He had turned down Hannover's proposal earlier on Tuesday despite Rangers being willing to sanction the temporary move.
The decision appeared to underline his desire to stay at Ibrox and compete for minutes under McInnes.
However, Middlesbrough subsequently stepped forward with an offer that Rangers accepted, giving Barron another opportunity to consider his options.
He has now agreed to the move and is on his way to Middlesbrough to finalise the deal.
The switch would give Barron the chance to play regular Championship football as he chases a Scotland recall.
Race against the deadline
Time remains tight, with the English transfer window closing at 11pm tonight.
Barron must complete the necessary formalities and registration before the deadline if the move is to be completed.
His late decision represents a significant turnaround from earlier in the day, when he had rejected Hannover and appeared set to remain with Rangers.
However, Middlesbrough's approach has convinced the midfielder to take up the opportunity, with Barron now travelling to England to try and get the deal over the line.
