Rangers striker Bojan Miovski has called for North Macedonia to “show unity” ahead of their meeting with Scotland, while acknowledging the pressure currently surrounding the visitors.

North Macedonia welcome Scotland in the UEFA Nations League looking to respond after defeats to Switzerland and Slovenia. With Scotland also fresh off a heavy defeat to the Swiss.

Miovski spoke ahead of the fixture and admitted that his country must find a way to turn their words into performances on the pitch.

Macedonia unity needed

“Every period in the national team brings its own challenges, now we are at a moment when we need to show unity,” Miovski said.

“We do not have the desired results as we expected, but now we need to be a team and prove it on the field.

“We can talk a lot, say anything, but we need to show it on the field in time.”

Miovski plan to beat Scotland

The former Aberdeen forward then turned his attention towards Scotland, acknowledging the quality available to Sebastien Pocognoli’s side while also pointing towards the pressure they are currently facing.

“Scotland is a great team, we know what kind of players they have and where they play,” he said.

“They were part of the World Cup; they didn't perform as I expected and I know they have quality.”

Miovski will now hope to play a role in ensuring North Macedonia can take advantage of Scotland's current difficulties.

However, the Rangers striker stressed that his country cannot depend on individual talent if they are to get the result they want.

“We are playing at home and we are a national team that needs to show quality on the field,” the 27-year-old said.

“We cannot rely on individual quality. If we are a team, the results will come back.”

The comments underline the importance of the fixture for North Macedonia, with Miovski demanding a collective response after their difficult start to the Nations League campaign.

Rangers fans will be able to watch Miovski face Pocognoli’s side tomorrow, with a keen interest to see if the striker can follow up his late winner against St Mirren with a goal on the international stage.
