Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Antalyaspor’s American striker Haji Wright.

According to journalist Salim Manav, the Gers have launched an £7m bid for the 25-year-old that includes a 15% sell-on fee.

However, the Turkish club have knocked back the offer and are holding out for at least £8.7m for his signature.

Wright appears to fit the profile of player that new Rangers manager Michael Beale wants to bring to Ibrox.

With star striker Alfredo Morelos set to leave this summer and doubts over Antonio Colak’s future, Beale is on the hunt for a proven goalscorer. In Wright, he may have found his man.

The pacy forward has been in scintillating form this season, netting 16 goals in 26 games across all competitions.

Since joining Antalyaspor permanently last summer, Wright’s value and stock have skyrocketed.

Once labelled ‘dangerous’ by former Schalke director Horst Heldt, the American international is now hitting the peak of his powers.

Comfortable playing through the middle or out wide, Wright would give Rangers options in attack. His searing speed and predatory instinct in front of goal have seen him compared to Premier League stars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. At 25, Wright also has his best years ahead of him.

For the US national team, Wright scored a stunner at last year’s World Cup in Qatar. He has 31 goals in 61 appearances for Antalyaspor, demonstrating why Beale and Rangers are so keen to bring him to Scotland.

While Antalyaspor have knocked back Rangers’ first approach, the Scottish giants are expected to return with an improved offer.

Wright could prove to be a shrewd piece of business and exactly the kind of marquee signing Beale wants to kick off his reign at Ibrox. With a deal in the pipeline, Rangers fans will be keeping a close eye on developments.
