Rangers are rumored to be leading the chase to sign Aris winger Luis Palma following the news that Ryan Kent is tipped to join Fenerbahce.

According to reports from Greek media outlet Transfer Geeks, Kent, 26, has agreed in principle to join the Turkish giants when his contract expires this summer.

Fenerbahce were also said to be interested in the 23-year-old Palma, who has impressed in the Greek Super League this season for Aris.

However, with Kent seemingly set for Istanbul, Rangers are now reportedly poised to sign Palma as they intensify their interest.

Honduran newspaper Diario La Prensa claimed in a recent report that Rangers are preparing a £4.4 million bid for the left-sided attacker.

With Kent departing Ibrox, new manager Michael Beale faces an enormous task to find a replacement. During his time with Rangers, Kent has fluctuated between amazing and frustrating, instrumental in winning titles and culpable in losing them.

Rangers cannot afford another player as inconsistent as Kent, who regularly went missing in crucial games against Celtic.

Allowing him to leave on a free transfer is questionable in itself, but spending £4.4 million on a player from the Greek league is a massive gamble, especially given Beale’s likely limited budget this summer.

Rangers eyeing Luis Palma as Kent replacement

While Palma has had an impressive season in Thessaloniki, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists in 35 games, he would still be a risky signing that Rangers may not have room for.

The Honduran found the net against bitter rivals PAOK and twice against Olympiakos, proving he can perform on the big stage in Greece.

However, with such a pivotal season ahead, Rangers require a proven, consistent performer rather than another risky signing.

The move could represent either a shrewd acquisition or a foolish gamble. Only time will tell if Palma can handle the pressure and deliver should he make the move to Ibrox.
