Rangers are poised to sanction the departures of several first-team players this summer in a bid to generate extra transfer funds for new manager Michael Beale.

According to Daily Record, the Ibrox club could pocket around £15m from the sales of Ianis Hagi, John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Glen Kamara and Ben Davies.

Beale has made no secret of his desire to overhaul the Rangers squad ahead of the new campaign. The Englishman is intent on putting his own stamp on the team and improving the overall quality in key areas.

Offloading players surplus to requirements through summer departures would provide Beale with additional money to invest in targets that suit his style of play.

Hagi has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth under Beale and Spanish side Celta Vigo are said to be keen on the Romanian playmaker.

Barisic and Lundstram are in the final year of their deals and Rangers would likely accept combined offers of around £3m for the duo.

Kamara has failed to replicate his early Ibrox form over the past year and would probably depart for less than the £10m touted last summer.

Davies has yet to fully convince since his £4m move from Liverpool in 2021 but Beale rates the centre-back.

Trimming the squad by moving on players who can be adequately replaced through these summer departures would be shrewd business from Rangers.

Summer departures loom to fund Beale’s overhaul

The sales would hand Beale extra funds to shape the team in his image over the close season. With several contracts up next summer, a squad revamp is required to avoid being in a similar position in 12 months time.

Beale faces big decisions in the coming weeks but stripping away deadwood through necessary summer departures and reinvesting the proceeds in hungrier players is key to Rangers’ quest for title glory.

An exciting but demanding summer lies ahead at Ibrox as the club bids farewell to familiar faces to usher in a new era.
