Rangers are exploring bringing Aston Villa prodigy Tim Iroegbunam to Ibrox, according to an insider. Word has it that Rangers gaffer Michael Beale is an enormous admirer of the 19-year-old midfield maestro.

Beale knows Iroegbunam well, having taken him on loan to Queens Park Rangers when Beale took the reins there at the start of this season. Under Beale’s guidance, Iroegbunam flourished both out wide and in the centre of the park.

The England Under-20 international has looked a tad off-colour since Beale left QPR in November, but has still racked up an impressive 28 Championship starts in 34 league appearances.

Beale is also familiar with Iroegbunam from Beale’s time on the coaching staff at Aston Villa, and is convinced the young starlet has a glittering future ahead of him.

Rangers are keen on bringing Iroegbunam to Glasgow, whether on loan or in a permanent deal. Tim Iroegbunam still has over four years left on his contract at Villa Park, having penned a long-term extension in March of 2022.

The former West Brom academy graduate made the move to Villa in the summer of 2021. He has made just four appearances for the Villa first team so far, including one Premier League start against Norwich last season.

Rangers are poised to make several marquee signings this summer after another underwhelming campaign. Midfielders Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack will all be out of contract at the end of this month.

Beale’s Gers are on the brink of missing out on the Scottish Premiership title, with bitter rivals Celtic poised to clinch a domestic treble.
