Rangers ready to sign English playmaker from Norwich City
Rangers have reportedly reached an agreement to sign attacking midfielder Kieran Dowell from Norwich City.
The talented playmaker looks poised to become the Glasgow club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Record , the 24-year-old Englishman has been in talks with Rangers manager Michael Beale over the past few weeks.
Dowell is out of contract at the end of the season, leaving him free to join the Light Blues on a free transfer.
Dowell began his career in Everton’s youth academy before gaining valuable experience while on loan at Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Derby County and Wigan Athletic.
He joined Norwich City permanently in 2020 but has found playing time limited this season due to injury. The Canaries’ manager refused to comment on Dowell’s future amid rumors he was Rangers-bound.
The attacking midfielder is expected to be the first of several new signings at Ibrox as Beale tries to strengthen his squad after a frustrating campaign.
Rangers have also been linked with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland and Swansea City winger Morgan Whittaker.
However, Beale dismissed speculation of a move for QPR’s Chris Willock, insisting there was “no truth” to the rumors.
Beale said he “wouldn’t take advantage” of his connections at QPR, the club where he previously worked.
Rangers ready to sign Kieran Dowell from Norwich City
The signing of Dowell would provide Rangers with creativity, flair and goals from midfield, something they have lacked at times this season.
If he can rediscover his best form, Dowell has the potential to become a key player under Beale.
Rangers supporters will be hoping this exciting young English prospect can help fire their team to greater success next season.
