Veteran goalkeeper Jack Butland appears poised to join Rangers, as the Gers seem on the cusp of securing the England international’s signature.

According to reports from The Scottish Sun, the 30-year-old shot-stopper is on the brink of inking a deal at Ibrox once his contract with Crystal Palace expires.

If the touted move comes to fruition, it would have the blessing of Butland’s former manager at Selhurst Park, Patrick Vieira.

The Palace boss, who worked with Butland for a season, sang the keeper’s praises last year.

"“Jack is a consummate professional…he’s always the first to volunteer for finishing practice and he’s a really positive presence in the dressing room,” V Patrick Vieira told the Independent."

Currently on loan at Manchester United, Butland looks unlikely to join the Red Devils permanently, with Dean Henderson set to return from his temporary stint at Nottingham Forest.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers manager Michael Beale has long admired the Bristol-born Butland, who has earned nine England caps over his career.

Rangers Set to Sign Butland, Patrick Vieira Gives Thumbs Up

The potential signing of the experienced Butland on a free transfer would be a coup for Rangers.

With 41-year-old Allan McGregor nearing the end of his career, the Gers need to find a replacement this summer.

If they can land a keeper of Butland’s pedigree at no cost, it would represent shrewd business.

All signs point to a deal being imminent, so expect developments on this front soon. Butland appears poised to trade the Premier League for the Scottish Premiership as he looks set to join Rangers.

With a wealth of experience at the highest levels under his belt, Butland would be an excellent addition between the sticks at Ibrox.
