Morelos Last-Gasp Header Sends Rangers Through

Rangers are headed to the Europa League Group Stage for the second straight season as a injury-time goal from Alfredo Morelos wins them the tie 1-0.

Pandemonium. It was a nervous night at Ibrox as Rangers tried to make it through to the Group Stages of Europa League for the second season in a row. The tie was 0-0 at the first leg which meant that a goal from Legia would give them the away goal advantage.

Rangers came out firing and Morelos had a header that went just barely wide of the goal, one that looked almost identical to his eventual winner, but then Legia got things under control and a nervous 60 minutes took place.

Rangers came out firing in the second half and took control of the game, but they still failed to find the difference-maker. The fear of being the better side, which Rangers absolutely was in this leg, but losing in penalties had to be hanging over the entire stadium.

Then, relief. Jordan Jones, who had come on for Scott Arfield, took a pass from Nikola Katic and sent in a cross just as the 90-minute mark was past and Morelos headed it into the far side of the net.

At that point the party was on, Rangers had to hold on just a bit longer, but the match was secured. Rangers still haven’t trailed for a second in European Qualifiers under Steven Gerrard and will be in the group stages for the second straight season.

NIkola Katic was incredible the entire match. His outstanding season continues as he looks to be a real star.
