Week 2 of the Scottish Premiership is upon us. Let’s do a quick preview of the fixtures of Saturday.

Opening weekend is past and the season moves on.

Celtic at Motherwell.

In a big temperature test for both clubs, what should hypothetically be one of the better matches of the weekend is the first one.

Celtic dominated their home opener against St. Johnstone, but faced their first hiccup of the season with a 1-1 draw against CFR Cluj in Europe and they have had real trouble going to face Motherwell at Fir Park in recent seasons.

For Motherwell, the way they cruised through the opening stages of cup play they have been a popular pick to have a good season.

But Motherwell fell fairly flat in their opener at Livingston and if they get pummelled by Celtic it will do away with most of the good vibes built by a strong preseason.

Livingston at St. Johnstone

An interesting match between two teams that are likely to be towards the bottom of the table. St. Johnstone are off to a bad start in Cup play and got obliterated by Celtic last week.

Meanwhile Livingston, despite being widely picked to be relegated started off the season with a draw against a Motherwell side with high expectations. On top of that, Livingston looked the better side.

Its too early to read much into it, but this match is likely to say a lot about both clubs. St. Johnstone have a chance to prove that last week’s pumping was just a case of a great Celtic team on top of their game, while Livingston have a chance to emphasize that they won’t be in danger of relegation.

Kilmarnock at Hamilton

Hamilton got swatted at newly promoted Ross County last week and will hope to rebound at home. Hamilton refuse to die year after year, but another pumping would put serious doubt into whether or not they can pull their magic this season.

Meanwhile Kilmarnock are still looking for a solidly positive result this season, and failure to come away with 3 points would certainly officially sound the alarm bells.

Ross County at Hearts

Hearts lost a close and entertaining match at Aberdeen last week and looked very solid in doing so.

Ross County beat Hamilton 3-0 at home, but going on the road against what already looks like a solid Hearts squad should be a different story.

Hearts should have this in hand, but a result for Ross County would be excellent.

We’ll be back with recaps after the matches.
