The talented Liverpool winger who won the Scottish Pelremierships young player of the year award for Rangersbis nearing a deal with Leeds United.

It’s been clear for sine time that Rangers hopes of bringing back talented winger Ryan Kent for a second season at Ibrox had grown slim, but even that slim hope is almost gone.

Liverpool has said that they have no interest in loaning him out again, Kent himself has even said he doesn’t want to go out on loan again. Steven Gerrard made it clear that they made their offer and Liverpool rejected it.

Despite that, there remained some hope that the English transfer window may pass and allow Rangers to make another go, but it is now being reported that Leeds United are close to a deal.

Reported by James Pearce of Thr Athletic, Leeds is close to selling Kemar Roofe, after which they will sign Kent.

The only remaining hope is that the sale of Roofe falls through, as the report states that Leeds will only turn their attention to Kent if they first move Roofe.

The good news is that it seems Rangers had resigned to not retaining Kent some weeks ago so hopefully, they have ready contingent plans. Its been reported that they are keen to bring in one more player, likely a winger.

That said, Kent brings much of what Rangers need and is a highly entertaining player to watch. So even though this has been building for some time, it’s still disappointing.

Though painful to watch Kent move on, Rangers do have to focus on finding another winger of quality as already it is proving to remain a place of weakness for Steven Gerrard’s club.
